How We Met

In the spring of 2004 a group of students from Canyon Del Oro High School were standing on a stage waiting for the drama teacher and director of the All School Musical "The Music Man" to figure out just how she wanted to adjust this particular scene. She decided she needed people after the dance was over to walk across the stage to give the set a feeling of actually being a town. Ms. Seidl had decided on a few people but wanted two of the kids playing teenagers to act as a couple. She chose Eric, a sophomore who had joined the cast after auditions because of a shortage of guys and the coaxing of his friend Ross, and Aelynn, a freshman who had auditioned and won the roll of dancer number five. Little did Ms. Seidl know just what a pair she had created.

Throughout high school, another musical, girlfriends, break ups, and a few crushes, they remained close friends and eventually realized that being without one another was not something they wanted to do.

They have been "officially" dating for five years, not without a few ups and downs along the way. They both became proud wildcats, lindy hoppers, and now UofA alumni. Eric was a professional archeologist and then a stuntman. Aelynn studied film and worked alongside some great actors and producers.

Then on a Thursday night they were killing time at a bar not too far from the UofA, waiting for Eric's sister to roll into town. Having heard that Megan's flight was delayed, they headed to the UofA for a final midnight farewell, as they were leaving for California in two days. As Eric and Aelynn walked around the campus together in the dark they talked about all the memories they had made on the campus, friends they would miss, and adventures they had together. They walked around to the fountain in front of Old Main and Eric got down on one knee and asked Aelynn to marry him. She, of course, said yes.

We are now enjoying our engagement from sunny Corona California as we pursue our dreams together.
